Task Details :-

as discussed there are various RAID options you cna use on file server to imporve stability, securityy and reduce file loss. and also improve speed.

i remember seeing some guys connect 10 SSDs in a RAID to get 3000MB transfer speed which is quite incredible.

i woudl sugges to use the many 2.5 inch standard HDD we have for this raid usage. and leave teh SSD for other uses.

doing RAID on normal HDD will give you incredible speed if done correctly.

i belive you can also combine RAID.

e.g RAID X is for auto duplicating data onto extra HDD

RAID Y is for distributing the data saving over multiple HDD

so possibly by combining both you ahve RAID Y dupicated over other disks. if you get me?

    Hello Rob,

We are already using Raid in file server. 4 HDDs are currently in use in file server. We are using software raid as we do not have any hardware raid card. We are using windows storage space+raid1(2way mirror for user files)+raid0(os mirroring). The setup is dynamic means when needed we can add more HDDs to the server.

    HI Steve,

this is a very important topic which i can see is not completed and tis over 1 year.

you are a serious guy mate, but i understand your mind may be relaxed now due to your difficulties lately. however i need you to start taking all your tasks seriously again and become the Steve who ENSURES he is up to date with all IT stuff for current time and future time.

so this RAID concept discussed here... what solution did you implement for the back up of our data?

as a growing company... this becomes ever more important for us.
